What These Blogs are Doing Well

Although these don't necessarily apply to all of the blogs mentioned, for the most part the blogs I'm sharing do the following well:

  • Writing for the right audience

  • Posting at least once a week

  • Incorporating their products or services without being salesy

No one is perfect, but these businesses definitely know the value of blogging and are doing their best to provide valuable and entertaining content for their community!

What I really love about Lili's blog is how they bring in multiple contributing writers with different expertise and backgrounds, making it the perfect blog for small business owners, entrepreneurs, and freelancers to learn from.

They bring in their target audience to write blogs for their target audience, and really focus on keeping their blog content helpful and supportive and devoid of salesy language. How do I know all this? Well, beyond being an avid reader...I also happen to be one of Lili's writers. Shameless plug for a favorite client!

First of all, these are the coolest kid bikes I've ever seen and I want a me-sized one. Aside from that, this revolutionary bike brand's blogging game is on point. They're blogging well over 4 times each month, their content is super informative, helpful, and fun for parents and kids to check out, and it's strategically focused on their industry! If you're looking for a prime example of small business blogging done right, then you need to check out woom. Hats off to an amazing content strategy!

Night Cap by Tuft & Needle: A Blog for Good Sleep

Tuft and Needle is a small business with a blog called Night Cap

You've probably heard of Purple or Casper, but I'm here to tell you that Tuft & Needle was here first and does it better! I've been sleeping on a Tuft & Needle mattress since before Casper or Purple showed up (give me this hipster moment, okay?!) and it's the comfiest bed I've ever slept on.

Excuse the tangent - back to blogging! While planning to write this blog, I took a peek at Tuft & Needle’s website and was pleased to see they have a dedicated blog called "Night Cap" - cute, right? Although their posting has been less frequent the last two months (Tuft & Needle, I'm right here if you need a new writer!), the content is very well thought out and has a clear target market they're trying to reach.

Rolox Home Service: Because Local Businesses Should Blog Too!

This last one might not be what you were expecting, but I think it's important to point out the value blogging can have for local businesses specifically! Rolox Home Service is a home improvement service company located in Kansas and Missouri. Even though they only service two specific regions, they're invested in blogging as an effective content strategy for growing their brand and reaching new clients! So don't go thinking blogging isn't for you just because you're a local service provider or brick and mortar business - blogging is a great content strategy for all types of small businesses.
